When work slows down significantly for a Contributor , but we want that person to stay with Cantilever long-term, we may put them into "Dormant" mode to streamline operations and reduce overhead costs.

- Consider dormant mode for contributors consistently working under 10 hours per week
- Maintain clear communication about the transition to dormant status
- Archive rather than delete accounts whenever possible
- Keep dormant contributors in our team database for future reference

- Keep contributors active just to give them a small amount of work
- Delete account data when transitioning to dormant mode
- Keep contributors dormant for more than one year without review
Guidelines
- A Dormant contributor should be marked as Dormant in the ‣
- A Dormant contributor should still have a Manager. Their manager should keep in touch with them via social media, email, etc and may even want to have an occasional touch-base.
- A Dormant contributor should have a “suspended” account in Gmail, making it easy to restore them in the future. They should be archived or removed from all other Software.
Process
Making Someone Dormant
- Manager conducts conversation with contributor about transition
- Manager cancels all scheduled meetings and makes announcement in #announcements
- Operations removes/suspends software accounts
